The foundation of Aarni was laid deep in the forests of the quiet village of Klaukkala in southern Finland. As young boys, we often hiked with friends into the woods, built campfires, and sat by the glowing flames until dusk, grilling sausages and sharing laughs—surrounded by nature, beyond the watchful eyes of adults.
Years later, we met again in Helsinki, this time on the sauna benches, and discovered a shared passion for unique wristwatches. Sweating it out in the sauna, our roots in the forest naturally came to mind, and it didn’t take long before wood became a central topic of our conversation. We saw wood as a beautiful and versatile material and wanted to show it could be used for much more than it commonly is today. As we cooled off with some frosty beers, our eyes landed on the watches on the table, and the idea of wooden wristwatches immediately felt right. It was time for Aarni.
